I loved Mighty Avengers! You write Cage and Monica much better than I've seen in years! A question, though: why make her hair straight? Monica Rambeau was one of the few female characters to keep a more ethnic hairstyle, and she was an inspiration to me and many others on that regard, since we live in a world that keeps telling us we are always lacking, that we have to use a bunch of chemicals in our hair to be accepted. I was really disappointed to see Monica conforming with the norm.

If I’m brutally honest, I had a feeling there might be some interesting character beats in it down the line.

This is a conversation that’s going to be happening in the comic itself over time - in the context of Monica rebranding herself, especially given her reasons for doing that, making the decision to get her hair straightened sends some problematic messages. So other characters will pick up on that, and then we’ll see what Monica’s reaction is to what they have to say. Anyway, it’s not something I want to leave unexamined.

And thank you for the kind words about the book. I’m glad you liked it.
